3. Monster Ranchers

Admittedly, there is indeed a pattern forming here. Games based on cartoons that involve raising monsters to fight for your amusement. Monster Rancher is one of those games my brother and I would take turns playing then battling our monsters from individual saves. It was for the ps1 and was released November 30th, 1997. Supposedly there was another release in 2011, quite sad I missed it, never got to raise a dragon. The game was interesting as in creating new monsters involved putting other games disks into the console in hope that a monster would pop out. If you were bored with a monster you had raised you could always merge the poor thing with another one and get something new. The fusion process only became interesting when you realised fusing well trained monsters would result in a strong “baby” monster being produced. Mad alchemy aside, the game was purely about the battles, eventually as your rank rose people would come to hire out your monster for excursions that could result in some rare items that would allow the player to obtain legendary monsters, like the Phoenix.

What do you think?
