The Best Games of E3 2016

E3 2016 has been pretty fantastic. Over the last few days we have been given more information about games we already knew about and have seen a tonne of games that we didn’t. In my opinion, it’s been one of the best E3’s in a while with great games, new hardware and the return of old favourites. Anyone who read my earlier article, What I hope to see at E3 2016, knows that some of my fantasies have become a reality while others, unfortunately, will remain a fantasy until at least Gamescom in August.

With so many great games, it would take far too long for me to talk about them all and so that’s why I am going to focus on some of my favourites. Note that this all my opinion, so some games may not make my list that might make yours and so, with that said, here is my list of the best games of E3 2016, in alphabetical order.

Crash Bandicoot

Back in the early days of Playstation 1, Naughty Dog created an icon of the Playstation brand in Crash Bandicoot. During the transition to Playstation 2, though, Crash was sold off to Activision, leaving us with a string of games that didn’t appeal to fans of the originals. At Sony’s conference, they revealed that Crash Bandicoot will be returning. Firstly, he will be making an appearance in the Playstation 4 edition of Skylanders Imaginators but, more importantly, will be receiving remasters of his first three Playstation outings.

As a huge fan of the original games, I can’t wait to replay them all with new models, updated graphics and on the Playstation 4. Currently, the consensus seems to be that this is a way of Activision and Sony to test the waters before fully committing to a partnership to release a brand new entry in the Crash series and so, hopefully, we can expect to see more of Crash and friends in the future.

Deadrising 4

Deadrising, as a series, has always appealed to me. While the zombie genre is the most overused in gaming, Deadrising has focused on making zombie-slaying the most fun it can possibly be. With crazy costumes and even crazier weapons, it has always differentiated itself just enough to stand out from the million other zombie games on the market.

Deadrising 4 looks to push that even further, bringing robot suits, electrified toy cars and more. With the return of series veteran, Frank West, and a new Christmas themed setting, Deadrising is going to make this Christmas wacky, if not a bit bloody.

It is currently set for release later this year.
