TWO – Iron Fist
Ok, it goes without saying that Marvel’s Defenders are getting pretty big these days. With the mass success of Marvel’s Daredevil on the streaming service Netflix, followed by the success of their Jessica Jones series, Marvel is set to next release a series for both Luke Cage [a.k.a Power Man] & Iron Fist, before they all come together for an event miniseries, The Defenders. While you may expect to have seen Iron Fist partnered up with his fellow Defenders, especially Luke Cage [his long-time crime fighting partner and fellow “Hero for Hire”], I believe that what Marvel really should focus on would be the more mystical and martial arts based aspects of the character.
Whilst a Doctor Strange game would shine a light upon the mind-bending side of the Marvel mystical universe [as previously stated], an Iron Fist solo game would allow for the more traditional, martial arts approach to take centre stage. The game could have Iron Fist travel to the seven cities of Heaven, such as K’un L’un, and undertake challenges to prove his might and bring down whatever evil menace the developers should put him up against. The game would benefit from a more story-focused style, as opposed to a massive open-world. It could also feature a challenge mode, in which Iron Fist goes up against his enemies in martial arts competitions, and this could serve as a wave mode of sorts. Much like a Black Panther game, the combat system in Iron Fist would most likely benefit from being some type of variation on the predator system from the Batman: Arkham series.
