THREE – Guardians of The Galaxy/Marvel Cosmic
Guardians of The Galaxy, or “GoTG”, was the surprise breakout film of 2014. The film featured an incredible soundtrack, amazing performances, and provided plenty of laughs [as well as feels] for viewers around the world. But, of course, there is a lot more to the characters and the cosmic side of Marvel than what was able to be explored in the film, and a game would be a great way to bring this amazing galaxy to life. The Guardians are a team that have had a rather varied roster over their career, and are often seen as ‘Outlaws’ and ‘criminals’ by the governments of the galaxy [though that doesn’t stop them from doing what they do]. The cosmic side of the Marvel Universe is steeped in incredible lore, and, with the right team behind it, could make for an amazing gaming experience.
There are two ways I could see this game working out:
- Players assume the role of the Guardians’ Star-Lord, and can lead their fellow Guardians into battle and on missions
- Players are able to assume the role of each of the Guardians, and level them individually – whether they choose to play as one character for the entirety of their time with the game, or share the love, is totally up to them. This method would also allow for a co-op mode, something that could benefit this game greatly
The cosmic side of the Marvel Universe has many unique and interesting locations for players to visit, each with their own unique enemies and other inhabitants. The supporting cast for a game set in the Marvel Cosmic Universe would also have the potential to be quite strong, and seeing how relationships with these characters unfold in a dynamic game world would make for a really interesting game.
