Things I love and hate about… Dark Souls 3

Love – Gradual Build

maxresdefault (4)

Ever tried a Souls game and felt utterly lost within seconds with nary a word of guidance to help you? Dark Souls 3 treats you a little better this time around. Not only is the tutorial area a classic introduction giving you a glimpse at all the mechanics and tropes awaiting you later on but the actual difficulty curve is smoother.

The game certainly retains its difficulty and wears that proudly but similarly won’t bash you over the head within the first couple of hours. Even the first area outside of the tutorial is a slow build allowing you to find your play style and eases you in letting players gain their bearings in this beautiful bleak land. Then once you’re just about comfortable it shifts up a gear and keeps you just about on your toes before unceremoniously pulling the rug out from under you and showing you it has been the same old Dark Souls all along, you’re just better acclimatised to it now than you had been prior.

What do you think?
