Now that last year is fully over the horizon and January is well underway, gamers can once again turn their attention towards that shining summer beacon of new releases, E3. The 2016 showcase was a real barnstormer, with an unprecedented wave of exciting announcements from Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo.
Judging by these little sneak peeks, 2017 is going to be another big year. In no particular order, here’s a rundown of a few of the games and announcements we really hope grace the stage at this years’ conference.
Project Scorpio

An open secret for a while before it was officially announced to the world at the tail end of Microsofts’ 2016 E3 conference, Project Scorpio is coming in 2017. In direct competition with the PS4 Pro, Project Scorpio is aiming to bring high powered gaming to console users. Its’ 6 TFLOPS of computing capability will deliver true 4K resolution and improved graphical power.  Only time will tell if Project Scorpio will be a hit, but you can be sure that Microsoft will want to push their new addition to the Xbox family to the forefront this E3. Whilst getting a good look at all that increased horsepower is very exciting, Microsoft will have to work hard to convince console gamers that the Scorpio is an upgrade worth getting.
The Nintendo Switch
In October 2016, Nintendo surprised the world with the sudden stealthy announcement of their brand new tech, the Nintendo Switch. A fresh new console that can be configured into both home and portable gaming systems, the Switch represents a new direction and more modern image for the company. With an initial release date of March 2017, it’s not a stretch of the imagination to think the Switch will dominate Nintendo’s showing at E3. Having struggled through a difficult few years, it’s safe to assume that Nintendo will want to focus on promoting the new capabilities of their system.
Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild. Â (Nintendo Switch/Wii U)
Nintendo had a quiet E3 last year, dedicating most of their time to showing off the fantastic  new spin on one of their classic franchises, Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild. One of the key launch titles for the upcoming Nintendo Switch, Breath of the Wild combines the classic roleplaying of the original games with a brand new twist of open world survival. This beautiful fantasy adventure has been delayed several times, but all signs point to a confirmed 2017 release date. Hopefully a spot more gameplay will be shown at E3 this year.
