How Dark Souls 3 Could be the Best Souls Game Ever Made

Pacing

Bloodborne first 12-15 hours are paced quite well, but once it hits past Rom, the pacing takes a nose dive. You’re immediately thrown into a location that while visually looks great, it is mechanically poor. A thought occurred to me that never has before, or should with a souls game, and that was “this feels lazy”. Re-done enemies with different color palates, and an area that was hard for the sake of being hard was disappointing. It doesn’t quite reach the heights of the first 12-15 hours until the near finale of the last area. It also highlighted something that could’ve been very interesting. The “red moon” and how it affects that area in particular. You can see this event change the area, so why is only this area affected? It would’ve been very interesting to be able to visit locations that would now have different secrets, paths, enemies because of that event. It makes Bloodborne last bit quite poor, and leaves a bit of a bad taste in your mouth once the credits roll. Dark Souls 3 is about the coming of the apocalypse. we’re bound to see some jaw dropping  environments, and hope that they pull it off mechanically, and visually without sacrificing the quality of the game during it’s final half. Inconveniences unfortunately plagued the game as well epically at launch. Not being able to travel from lamp posts, but having to return to the hub with that 40-55 second load screen every time did no favors. The tombstones used to reach locations for fast travel also had no visual of the locations resulting in the player having no idea where you would be taken.
