A long time ago five enchanted keys were created. The keys were scattered around mysterious lands and still remain undiscovered. Many have come to find them, and so far all have failed. Will you find the keys and unlock the secrets, or will you join the endless ranks of souls forever trapped within these lands?
Sparkle 2 made by 10ton gaming is a puzzle game very much like Bejeweled or Zuma to name a few. Thank you to Xbox for supplying us with the code.
The music in the game is the best bit, it feels like something out of a Harry Potter film and the songs change as you go through the levels but if you’re close to failing the mission the sound speeds up which automatically makes your nervous which is cool. It feels like they took a lot of the time choosing the music and it fits the game really well for where it is set as well.
Graphics on the game are very good the colours are really bright and catch your attention very well. The aiming system could be better as some levels make you take shots from far away and missing can be a real pain Sparkle 2 could do with an aiming aid which could be turned on and off or gets smaller as you go through the levels.
The controls on the game are simple so anyone can pick it up and give it ago which is always good as I feel children would really enjoy this game. They can get a bit tricky as you progress as they add more colours for you to wipe out which adds to the pressure to making your shots count, you can also swap between the balls like you could in puzzle bobble…Classic game.
The goal of the game is to find five keys which sounds simple but when you complete a level you hardly move to get to the second level which wears very thin, very fast as it feels like they forced the game to last longer for no reason in my opinion.
As you progress through the game you unlock certain power ups and different slings to fire the balls, but no matter what one you choose the slings never change in colour or really don’t add anything to the game in my opinion which sucks as they could’ve added some customisation to them and added power ups to make them worthwhile.
Speaking of power ups you can also get them through the levels like a freeze ray, fireballs and colour swaps they can come in handy when you’re struggling with a level however the only down side to them is you have to try and hit it with one of the balls you have at the time so you have to choose wisely, most levels take about four minutes tops depending on how well you can aim but the further in the harder.
The game modes consist of the story mode and survival mode which isn’t a lot of choice but I feel that’s all you really could do with this game anyway as there isn’t really a lot more to it than that. Even though I don’t really understand the point of the story or having one for this kind of a game.
Even though this game originally started as an App i feel it should stay that way, not a fan of these game that make their way to console as there is not much to it to make you want to play it unless you was bored and wanted to lose and hour, It was a nice pretty game but not one for me I am afraid as it didn’t wet my taste buds.
