Level 22 – Review

Level 22 is a very unusual game as you help your character Gary who is late for work after celebrating a bit too hard on his birthday the night before, which i’m sure we are all guilty of from time to time. Sometimes i can’t even look my kids in the eyes as i feel like i have been a bad parent!

This is a pretty cool cartoon 3D look down game, with slick smooth graphics, Level 22 does not try too hard to impress, but what they have produced is of high quality. I’m fed up of seeing indie games that are too pixelated/blocky or trying to move back to when pixelated was the best on offer at the time. Move on, we have mega powerful machines to play our games on so let’s smooth the graphics out a little bit! Back to Moving Players game whom published and developed the game.

Gary wakes up after what looks like a super sesh on the tiles and has produced a world champ award hangover, with him rushing to get ready for work. Upon arriving at work he gets a phone call from his pal Marty, this is the introduction of Gary’s companion throughout the game that will help and advise Gary when needed.

The whole point of the game is to get to the back of each level and find the staircase which then proceeds to the next level, now to get there you will have to avoid your work colleges and guards to avoid getting re-sent back to the last checkpoint. The guards provide much more of a challenge as their field of view is more extensive and will only give you milli seconds to escape, you have been warned.

Within each level there are hidden collectable’s and a safe you have to try and crack from using clues found in your surroundings, as you progress throughout the game these codes are highly irritating and get incredibly difficult. People who crave a game that is a time filler and offers excellent achievements scores then this is a must buy with 20 levels which has 4 bosses included will leave you constantly changing and adapting to your surroundings. If you’re like me and batter triple A titles to the point where your social life has been exposed as non existentant then this game will be excellent as a time filler to take a break from the more complex and chaotic games.

So i think the conclusion is so far that this is a game of stealth, now with stealth games you will have the opportunity try out different paths and ways to progress like moving players to your desire, for example giving a guard a dodgy doughnut which you have laced with a laxative (lol moment for me) to get him to move so you can progress. Genius. Simple but effective gameplay that will at times have you absolutely raging as you have no idea at how to progress and will probably make you rage quit! I hold my hands up i raged quit once, i promise it was well justified. But all in all every aspect of this game has been thought out extremely well, the bosses for example will give you a run for your money and will have you using your surroundings to complete.
