Bike mayhem 2 is the follow on from bike mayhem it is a simple arcade game that consists of you on a mountain bike doing speed runs or trick run….simple.
The gameplay feels very simple and easy to get to grips with right of the bat and that means anyone can give it a go. Bike Mayhem 2 is very basic with linear options you select the mountain that you’re on then you are faced with different challenges of either speed runs or trick runs.
As you progress through the game you earn stars which in turn unlocks different clothes, helmets, bike frames and tyres. There are two kinds of bikes which offer their own boosts to the trials which is fine but what really annoyed me was the fact that every time you had to switch between the two you had to go back to the very first menu to gear up and swap all your stuff around. In my opinion it would have made sense to be able to have a speed and a trick bike at any time and swap freely before the race rather than all that hassle.
The visuals in the game work well and is a light hearted approach on trials evolution in my eyes, the background drops depending if you’re in a forest or on a snowy mountain.
The actual bike and rider you see are ok but they have taken a lot more time on the bike looking good rather than the guy who rides the bike though, for the most part the colors are nice and bright and work well though.
The sound of the game when you load it up is a bit crazy for my liking hard rock i guess you could call it i could be wrong though, but when you are in the game it all stops and all you can hear is the great outdoors and the pedaling or the chain spin when you stop which is cool.
When you take a tumble off the bike you hear the rider cry out and go flying in some case’s which was fun…yes i know i’m evil.
Bike Mayhem 2 is either single player in which you earn stars for better gear or you can challenge your friends online by setting times or high scores and see how you fare against each other with the online leaderboards.
You can also download custom mountain tracks created by other players or you could give it ago yourself which is fun but can does require some time to get used to and to create your best track. You can make your own jumps and checkpoints and add foliage to create obstacles which was cool.
