How far has Mortal Kombat come?

How far has the Mortal Kombat stable come? From being first released in the arcade in 1992 and its bloody popularity finally found itself on the SNES shortly afterwards and now has been awarded Game of the year 2015 for Mortal Kombat X on the current gen consoles (Xbox One and PS4)

Akklaim had a real winner on their hands to test the mights of Capcom’s Street Fighter, they did what no one else would and that is push the boat out and release the gore that early 90’s fans loved and still do to these days. As well as Akklaim NeverRealm had their fair share of the franchise as to did Midway but it is Warner Brother Interactive that have brought it to the new height it has reached.

From numerous games and silly films and even a cartoon series Mortal Kombat has always been at the top of the pile as a great arcade fighting game.

We begin in 1992 and Mortal Kombat is released on the SNES with it’s 16-bit graphics and blocky blood splatter, now don’t get me wrong it was a fun game to play and added new elements to the beat em’ up scene but they never really got into the groove until Mortal Kombat 2 was released on the SNES. It was here they finally got it right.
