The worms are back in their most destructive game yet. With a gorgeous, hand-drawn 2D look, brand new weapons, the introduction of crafting, vehicles and buildings plus the return of some much-loved classic weapons and gameplay, Worms W.M.D is the best worms experience ever.
Work your way through 30 campaign levels of increasing difficulty using the huge arsenal of new and classic weapons at your disposal. Use new vehicles to cause chaos amongst the enemy ranks and use buildings to gain the tactical advantage as you try to dominate the battlefield!
Team 17 have done it again, with W.M.D. the fabulous 2D warfare game continues to give fans joys of turn based war!
Worms have now included the use of vehicles like Helicopters a MechSuits, Tanks and many more these can be fun to use but sometimes they fall in the most annoying places on the map and then you’re left scratching your head trying to get to them.
But with that the game is still the same as it has been since it was first released in 1995, i mean the gameplay is smoother and visually it has improved but Team17 have continued to build on their great foundations.
They have added new weapons like the Holy Hand Grenade, it is basically a grenade with a crucifix attached, the boom is much bigger and sends them to hell…ironic.
Crafting is a new element Team17 have included, you can now break down items and convert them into new attachments for other weapons in your arsenal. So why not have a grenade that shoots fire…cool right?
The sounds in the game are always funny, with the worms having human voices…mainly i always go with the cockney voice over and absolutely love it when they die, one of them said once…”Bruv, call the missus. Tell her i’ll be late” hillarious.
Worms maps are always cool to look at and in W.M.D they still are, however you can enter some buildings and you don’t really know if you can until you walk up to it and bob’s your uncle you’re in a building, there isn’t any indication that you can enter and that for me is a bit strange. Definitely good place to hide though, or like me the first time I got into a Tank I drove it the wrong way and then got stuck in a building like the ED-209 from robocop.
Just the fact that they haven’t changed this one too much from the original makes it a great game to have in the collection, for £19.99 though it may be a little steep, as mentioned you can play through 30 campaign levels and then local or multiplayer, but after a while it will become stale and you’d want to move on. Paying £19.99 for a worms game in 1995 was common sense but in 2016…sorry no.
Worms W.M.D. was reviewed on the Xbox One but is also available on PC and PS4.
