The Division Won’t Have Player-To-Player Item Trading on Day One

When The Division launches on March 8 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, it won’t include the previously expected player-to-player trading.

In an interview with GamesRadar, Associate Creative Director Julian Gerighty explained that the lack of player trading is because they put a priority on different features. “It’s the reality of production,” he said. “Some features make it, some features don’t.”

Gerighty knows some people are “very passionate about” player trading, so the feature will “maybe make an appearance in the future.”

As we recently learned, The Division won’t include micro-transactions for shortcuts and Brooklyn won’t be a location in the game, despite previous trailers showing it. Additionally, the companion app was cancelled last year due to balancing concerns.

With development wrapping for The Division, Ubisoft Massive has begun working on the free updates and post-launch DLC.

A beta for The Division will begin January 28 on Xbox One, and January 29 on PlayStation 4 and PC. You can gain access by pre-ordering, or by signing up on the waitlist.
