Indie games seem to be the place to find rhythm games, and Loud on Planet X has been added to the frankly long list of similar games. If you are familiar with rhythm games then you’ll find nothing really new here however the thing that separates them all is the music that accompanies the game play.
The game play here couldn’t be much simpler. You are in control of a band that has aliens trying to invade the stage and destroy the speakers they use. Beating in time to the right rhythm with four lanes to fire from, then will hit any Alien coming your way. Last the length of the music track and you progress.

The number of hits needed to destroy an Alien will depend on the number of eyes it has. Some Aliens blow up filling the screen with Alien goo so you can’t see what’s happening for a short while, while others go underground and can only be shot at when they are above it.
You also can build up your combo to unleash a special attack on the aliens which will slow anything down in the particular lane you choose or kill anything. Then finally when things are getting hectic, your last resort is a bomb to destroy anything on the screen at the time.
If Aliens do reach the stage they will destroy your speakers, which you can fix, but if all the speakers get destroyed the Aliens win.
The music here is a list also of up and coming indie bands, of which you can choose who you want to listen while you play, and the bands vary from hip hop, to rock. It’s a very nice touch to be able to choose who you want and still progress.
Here is a list of the bands in the game.
Tegan and Sara, CHVRCHES, Lights, Metric, METZ, F*cked Up, HEALTH, Purity Ring, Little Dragon, Austra, Shad, Cadence Weapon, July Talk, Monomyth and a few more.
Aside from the music and the simple gameplay, the graphics are fun and very colourful, and very cartoonish, just also very simple at the same time. However the animations were excellent, and the likeness to the real band members a super touch, and all moved wonderfully well with the flowing music.
