During Capcom’s financial results presentation, Chairman and CEO Kenzo Tsujimoto admitted that Street Fighter V had some issues at launch, and they’ll be making changes to development timelines as a result.

“Based on what we learned from the past year of operations, it’s best to spend a little more time in development and running a high-quality title that will perform well globally,” Tsujimoto said.

He later added:

Some aspects of Street Fighter V needed more polish, such as the lack of content and server issues at launch. Accordingly, we feel it’s better to give a little more time to development than before, and have made slight adjustments to our portfolio.

Tsujimoto knows this could lead to profits taking “one or two years longer to stack up than initially expected,” but they will be “firmly strengthening our brands.”

As for Capcom’s game lineup for this fiscal year ending March 31, 2017, Tsujimoto said, “We plan to have one that is on par with or better than the lineup for this year.” However, the major releases are “concentrated in the second half of the year.”
