Momonga Pinball Adventures – Review

My love of Pinball dates back to when I was a kid, I can still remember the joys of spending hours standing at the Pinball machine feeding in coin after coin until I got to top of the leader board. Momonga Pinball Adventures has given me a completely different take on a game I have loved for more years than I care to remember, Pinball with a story, wow, way to go Paladin!

The steel ball is replaced by Momo a little flying squirrel who must fight the forces of evil after his village is reduced to ashes, his tribe is gone and he is the last remaining free Momonga, can he rescue his tribe? Well, that’s all down to you.

After the Owls have destroyed his village Panda rescues the half dead Momo and takes him to his sanctuary to heal, Panda is a Kung Fu master, and right there is when you realise that Momonga is a cross between Kung Fu Panda and Pinball, so as you can imagine I was hooked right there.

With 9 handcrafted story levels, 3 bonus level minigames and 45 challenges to complete, Momonga will keep you entertained for hours. The game has a very bright and colourful image and is very pleasing on the eye, the control for the game is simple as you only use the left and right bumpers. This does take a little bit of getting used to especially when you are controlling left and right movement by only using the bumpers.

The only real downside that I personally found to this game is the sound, or rather the speech, as it’s all in Japanese, there are subtitles and you can turn the cut scenes off, but I don’t think it would have taken too much to do and English dub for the story. The music is also a bit repetitive, but all that being said, it is the kind of game that you can play for a short time, or play for hours if you love Pinball then this is a very refreshing take on a traditional classic and well worth giving it a try.

This is an excellent game from Paladin Studios, bright colourful and a lot of fun to play.
