Action Henk Review

Action Henk is brought to us by RageSquid who have brought us CrashDrive 2, you control Henk an action figure who has had his award stolen by an evil foe.

The game is a speed running game against your ghost, you aim to beat it and gain awards to progress to the next set of challenges, the game is simple but tricky to play with grappling hooks and butt sliding down speed courses that look like something Andy would make in his room during Toy Story.

At the end of each selection of batches (courses) you can challenge other heroes and unlock them to use instead of Henk, although there doesn’t seem to be any upgrade in skills or speed etc.

As you progress the runs get harder and more tricky, you can compete with other players times in the global leaderboard and aim to get Bronze, Silver or Gold to progress to the next chapter. Action Henk doesn’t have any dialogue  to it just run, and running in this game is key, the controls are fairly easy to do A is jump, LT allows you to slide on your arse and X uses the grappling hook (not unlocked until later batches).

Visually the game works really well, the one cutscene did look a little cagey at times but in game it looks perfectly fine for what it is and that is a side scrolling racing game.

There are funny elements to the game as well, have you ever been a kid and leave somewhere but only using obstacles to get out as someone has said the floor is lava… Well when there is a jump in Action Henk the floor is lava…not literally but if you fall it turns into it and you’re respawned to the nearest checkpoint. Little things like did make me chuckle.

There is a multiplayer mode to the game but this works as a local multiplayer mode so grab three friends and race each other, you can also taunt your opponents during which is quite funny too.
