In Space We Brawl is a local multiplayer, twin stick shooter with more than 150+ different combinations of spaceships and weapons. Up to four players can join a fight, picking one of the 13 vessels and equipping it with 14 tools of space destruction. Are you going to drive an agile (but fragile) Pulsar ship with a deadly plasma sword?
Or do you want to fully take advantage of the energy generators of the Cypher ship? The sniper rifle would be a nice match, considering that it’s insane damage output is balanced by a high cost for each shot. Players can choose their play style, fighting in 8 different battlegrounds, each one defined by specific space hazards such as solar winds, black/white holes and deadly alien nests.
For many years sofa gaming has been pretty much overlooked except for maybe in the realms of Nintendo…… So what started as a PlayStation exclusive has come to Xbox One and is actually a lot of fun. Â Being the grumpy old sod that I am I wasn’t at all excited by the prospect of this and am pleased to announce that my reservations were unfounded.

So it’s a twin stick shooter set in space with vividly coloured spacecraft and a star map of intergalactic arena’s……
OK it’s not often I reference my own videos ( tongue firmly in my cheek ) but please give it a quick watch as it will make the description make a load more sence. Â The physics and ship handling feels and looks very similar to the retro game asteroids and or by default geometry wars. Â You have a selection of various ships to pilot all with different attributes and a customisable loadouts.
Here is another gameplay comparison for you all, and although a very different game, but similar because you can play 4 players its fusion frenzy, not since then can I remember a game where I could play 4 players on screen simultaneously and it be fun.  This is one of those games that the kids can all sit around and battle over as well as you and your friends with a crate of beer  or a couple of bottles of wine and settle some old scores on!.  It’s very accessible but yet still skillful and has a good quick learning curve, within a couple of games you can hold your own and “feel” in control.
The Graphics are are bright, vivid and eye catching. Â The simplicity belies the smoothness and sweet touches of finesse.
While fidelity and surround sound really aren’t that important in a game of this ilk, the sound effects are good and it all adds to the atmosphere of fun. Â Â The announcers have what can only be described as “Interesting” accents, this may seem a little rich coming from me ( watch any of my Chaos videos for further clarification ) but they did make me laugh on more than a few occasions. Â As I said above I got the overall feeling of fusion frenzy even though the games are nothing alike ?

The Graphics are are bright, vivid and eye catching. Â The simplicity belies the smoothness and sweet touches of finesse. Â One of the areas has black hole within it and as your ship and or its projectiles are drawn towards the event horizon you can almost “feel” the gravity increase and see the effect it has as it bends the flight path of your rockets.
I played this with my wife and son we all really enjoyed it, it plays well and had an accessibility that is rarely seen today in modern games, my only concern is that it does seem to lack game modes, the bounties that can be added on players are a fun extra dynamic but I think after a few hour of playing with friends you would be forced back into the mainstay FIFA or New Kid on the block Rocket League. Â Maybe this could do with some sort of multiplayer element to give it the legs it deserves. Â It’s a good game and a job well done and went down a storm in my house. Â Now to get revenge on my wife and her juggernaut……
